Following the successful execution of the Poject Management of the first barge repairs for Cape Preston Port Company (CPPC), Silverstar Marine has secured its second contract with them to commission one (1) 132m transhipper and two (2) 32m tugs. CPPC are a subsidiary of CITIC Pacific Mining who are developing the Sino Iron project.
The massive Sino Iron project is being developed at Cape Preston, 100 kilometres south west of Karratha in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. It is the largest magnetite mining and processing operation under construction in Australia. The Sino Iron project is focused on delivering a world class magnetite iron ore development which will add value to the Western Australian economy through significant downstream processing, employment, community benefits and international technology transfer while balancing social and environmental considerations.
Silverstar Marine’s scope for commissioning the three (3) vessels includes:
- Pre-start up verifications;
- Fault finding and resolution;
- Recommending short term and medium term corrective works to improve operational efficiencies of vessels;
- On going repairs as required;
- Starting and running of systems to prove operational performance;
- Recording and documenting all systems performances;
- Completion of Commissioning Verification Reports;
- As built drawings; and
- Operation of vessels.
